Tugela Connect is a host and a home of South African affinity groups that are connected by common bond and purpose in order to improve their own communities.
Tugela connect together with its partners has created an enabling environment and platform by building inclusive digital ecosystems that connect affinity groups with essentials services such as insurance, banking services, loans, business support, financial literacy, market place access and digital tools.
About Us
Tugela Connect founded with a vision to drive financial and social innovation in South African affinity groups and the rest of the African continent. Tugela Connect mission is to mobilise and organise economic viable and underserved groups through digital ecosystem, capital access and sustainable development strategies.
Tugela Connect is currently managing the following affinities i.e. Zion Unity Connect and Sesimiphi connect and with more affinities that are in preparation for launch before the end of 2025 and early 2026.
Sesimiphi Connect is an affinity group for informal traders who are selling daily to millions of people in various nodal points of eThekwini Metro (Durban), Kwazulu Natal and with the clear plan to expand to the rest of SA big cities and Metros in 2026.
Zion Unity Connect is an affinity for Amazayoni worshipers across South African estimated to be 6 million and more ,belonging to big and small independent churches. Currently we have dominant presence in Kwazulu-Natal and our main office is in Durban, KZN and our second office is in Midrand, Johannesburg Metro, Gauteng Province and further presence in North West, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Northern Cape in SA diamond and oldest city, Kimberly.
Membership
Each affinity organizes its members through our innovative membership system that includes benefits for each communities and products needed by that affinity.
For example, for Zion Unity Connect membership is broken down into;

Funeral Insurance for single member
Funeral Insurance for the family member
Collection, Deposit and payout of the membership is done through African Bank
ZUC affinity card.
For Sesimiphi Connect membership is broken down into;
1. Informal traders

- Business support loan to buy stock
- Funeral insurance
- Point of Sale Devices or payment infrastructure
- Buying group platforms for cheaper stock
Collection, Daily banking and payout is done on each trader Tymebank Card
2. To be expanded to spazas and other micro entrepreneurs next in 2026.
Other affinities are also going to be launched with their membership system by end of 2025 and in 2026.
